The highway sign points the way to Glacier National Park and Going to the Sun Road.
Stu, Ron, Fred and Mike just before entering the national park.
McDonald Lake, the first lake you reach on the road through the park. This lake is on the west side of Logan Pass.

For all of you sweltering, in the midwest and east coasts' record breaking heat, imagine how cool the air temperature must be there with all of that snow still piled up.
Spectacular scenery within Glacier National Park.
View from the top of Logan Pass on Going to the Sun Road. This is what has been written about the road. "One of the world's most spectacular highways, follows the shores of McDonald and St. Mary's Lakes while hugging the cliffs below the Continental Divide, that traverses Logan Pass."
Ron at the top of Logan Pass. Elevation 6,646 feet, another Continental Divide. McDonald Lake and St. Mary's Lake are formed by rain and melting snow that is shed off the mountain at Logan Pass.
Where's Waldo (Freddie)? There are 3 motorcycles in this image. Can you find all of them?
Our national park system goes out of the way to entertain visitors stopped for road construction. Wasn't it very thoughtful of them to post a mountain goat and her baby by the side of the road? The baby is difficult to see. Look at the right hind leg of the goat. The baby is barely visible. You should be able to make out a little tail and rump. The baby is also much whiter than mama is.

An unobstructed view of St. Mary's Lake.
Three thirty in the day time, there's a storm movin' in. They're headed off to somewhere, where' they've never, ever been. And the thunder rolls....duhn, duhn, duhn.....the thunder rolls. Sorry, had to take a few liberties with Garth Brooks' song. After leaving Glacier National Park the guys head south on Hwy 89 towards Helena/Bozeman. They rolled up on this storm off to their west. Luckily they were past the storm, before it moved on east, barely getting sprinkled on.
The guys finished up the day 340 miles later in the city of Helena, Montana. Dinner, showers, and laundry is becoming the norm of their evenings. (and not necessarily in that order!)
Yellowstone National Park with the evening destination of Cody, Wyoming is their goal for tomorrow.
Looks like you're getting a lot of use out of that duster! Unfortunately I can't see how skinny you're getting with that thing on!
ReplyDeleteFYI I'm planning a four corner trip around St. Croix via bicycle as a tribute to your great accomplishment!
Have a wonderful trip today and safe travels to all!
Miss you and love you dad! <3
