Day 13 - El Paso, Texas to Deming, New Mexico

It was time to change the oil in those iron horses. The boys scheduled a visit to the old Harley Davidson dealer. They found it was going to be more efficient to split up. Stu and Ron went to El Paso Harley Davidson. Stu discusses the work to be done on his bike.
Ron and Stu became a little bored while they were waiting for the service work to be completed on the motorcycles. Ron thought it would help pass the time if he flagged down a police officer to tell him about the 4 Corners ride.
The officer was so mesmerized by the boys' adventure that he radioed for one of his buddies to come and hear this story for himself. Are you guys buying this tale? Me neither.
Mike and Fred rode about 50 miles up the road to Las Cruces Harley Davidson. Mike remembered friends from Jamestown, Gary and Ann Prusik. Gary worked as a border patrol agent. He supervised 9 agents that patrolled an area approximately 4,000 square miles in size. The boys made good use of the downtime to have lunch with the couple. Catching up on email and surfing the world wide web also helped pass the time while in the service department.
Mike and Fred's bike taking a well deserved break while waiting to be worked on.Stu is checking out an alternative means of transportation. He must be getting tired of sitting on that bike seat. Is there room in that wagon for his motorcycle? Can they hook that trailer up to one of the Harley's? Those are the questions one must ask...
The fascination with big bridges ended when Border Patrol stations started cropping up. This check point was an interstate closer! All lanes merged into a single lane, both directions, in order to get through this station. Good job protecting our borders!
Welcome to New Mexico! The land of enchantment. The destination for tonight Deming, New Mexico. Shower, dinner, laundry - the order of the evening (and not necessarily in that order). The total miles ridden today - 110 miles. Not very far, but most of the day was devoted to service on the bikes. Tomorrow the guys are heading for Tombstone, Arizona to tour the old town. They are very excited about their upcoming destination.
