Knowing there was a serious mechanical problem with Mike's motorcycle the guys found a nearby Harley Davidson dealership in St. Charles, Louisiana. By the time the guys arrived the dealership was closed for the day. The neighborhood looked a little sketchy. He left the bike hoping it would still be there the next morning for repairs. The following morning the guys were back at the dealership when it opened, the bike was still there. Mike anticipated good news for a quick repair.
Upon inspection the broken down vehicle was found to have an excessive amount of metal in the crank case. Bad news. What to do, what to do? When suddenly Mike cried, "Eureka!" Just like Christmas morning he saw a beautiful, shiny, brand new Ultra Classic. Right there on the showroom floor, the answer to his dilemma. An afternoon of telephone calls, paper and a little mechanical work the boys knew they would soon be on their way. Mike arranged for his old bike to be transported back home to New York. That shiny, new bike was going to continue on to seek the next 3 corners.

Mike on the new bike! The group was back on the road headed for Texas.
Ron, Stu, Mike and Fred outside the Harley Davidson of Lake Charles dealership. Owners Bill, Nina and Billy took great care of the fellas. The boys were made to feel very welcome, treated with kindness and just couldn't say enough about what a pleasure it was to do business with Bill, Nina and Billy. Thank you!!
Hahahahahaha... Stu, I think that I can speak for all of us when I say we have little pity for you. You can totally handle 8 weeks of Dad's sub-zero temperature sleeping. Growing up we learned that sweatshirts and long pants weren't just for fall/winter, they were for summer lounging in the house too!! Try sleeping in your leathers, haha. Good luck with him!
ReplyDeleteI got a call from Ron at 10 PM last night. He said they would stop by our home sometime today! We are so excited at the thought of being a stop on this historic voyage of theirs!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Ron and meet the other guys! Karen, Ron's sister in Buda, Texas
Agreed, Beth. I suggest picking up a winter hat on your next leg. Although, good luck finding one of those in Texas...
