Day ten - Beaumont, Texas to San Antonio, Texas

Fred made a slight alteration in the route in order to swing by Buda, Texas. Buda is home to Ron's sister Karen and her family. Here the quartet visit with Jim, Karen and youngest daughter Bonnie. They refreshed themselves with some ice cold beverages and snacks that Karen graciously provided. A good time was had by all!
Remember the Alamo! Fred, Ron, Stu and Mike pose outside the Texas State shrine the Alamo chapel. The boys learned that in 1836 a battle ensued between the Texan revolutionaries and the Mexican military. Approximately 186 Texans, led by James Bowie and William B. Travis, tried to hold off a 2,500 member Mexican military force sent by Mexican President General Santa Ana. Those numbers don't make very good odds for a Texan victory. While it is estimated that 400 - 600 of the Mexican army were killed all of those Texans lost their lives in the battle of the Alamo.

After spending 10 days on those motorcycles it felt good to get cleaned up and head out for a little foot transportation. The guys enjoyed walking to the Alamo and along the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Looks like Stu attempted to dump Fred into the water! It has been hot, hot, hot for the guys while down south. Fred's smiling as if that water's going to feel mighty good. Hang tough Fred!
Hmmm....looks like Stu is getting a little talking to about his behavior by the law. No harm, no foul, he's simply hamming it up here for the camera.
A relaxing dinner at Morton's Steakhouse then back to the hotel which overlooked the Riverwalk. Total mileage ridden today: 333 miles.
