The First Official Day

June 3! The first official day of our 4 Corners ride! An idea that was born a little over 2 years ago, Stu's brain child. Stu, along with his band of merry men, Ron, Mike and Fred have been talking about this ride for a little over two years. One night over cocktails, imagine that, one of the wives asked, "well, when are you going to just do it instead of talk about it?" The rest they say...

Ron left his home in Sunman, Indiana on June 1, accompanied by his good friend Ken (Rising Sun, Indiana). Their destination - Chesapeake City, Maryland. Along the way they met up with Stu, in Winchester, Virginia. Stu who lives in Bradley, South Carolina was riding solo. The trio decided to spend the night in Winchester.

Upon their arrival in Chesapeake City the boys stopped by the Harley Davidson dealer to visit long time pal Steve Ramsey.

Fred from Canal Fulton, Ohio and Mike who resides in Bemus Point, New York departed for Chesapeake City on June 2. This pair met up with Ron, Stu and Ken in Chesapeake City.

Always part of the group and great friends, Robert & Joan D., organized a farewell send off for the 4 guys. This included generous hospitality, drinks, dinner, and (probably) more drinks. Everyone had a great time. It has been reported that some might have even gotten "inked" to commemorate the evening.

The 4 guys departed Chesapeake City at the crack of 9:00 a.m., while Ken headed back to the Hoosier state. Ron spoke on behalf of the other saying the coolest part of the first day's ride was the ride across the Chesapeake Bay. They traveled on a 17 mile bridge that contained two identical mile and a half tunnels under the water. They marveled at the engineering required to build a bridge with tunnels that spans the body of water. Traffic flowed across the bridge and into the tunnels while allowing large ships and other watercraft to sail along the water right over the tunnels.

A hot shower, meal and clean hotel awaited the men at the end of their first full day of riding. Nags Head, North Carolina is where they are spending their first official night of the trip. Enjoy the journey; be safe my friends.
